ARE DEFEATS NECESSARY?

ARE DEFEATS NECESSARY?

May had been quite the draining month. It trickled slightly into June. I’m glad I’m getting back my momentum. I tend to bite more than I can chew and I end up stretching myself too thin and being overly overwhelmed. I’m also a perfectionist on all levels. I’m slowly learning and embracing that what’s done is better than perfect. I don’t give myself room to make mistakes and when I do, I really end up beating myself over it for a while. Hence my question, are defeats necessary? If you read my blog post here, you’ll kinda figure out on the way that this is a continuation of the blog and what a timely time! I’ve been bogging my head around the question “are defeats necessary?” for a while now. Necessary or not, defeats are inevitable. They happen. We who fight for our dream suffer more when it doesn’t work…

Uncovering long buried dreams.

Uncovering long buried dreams.

When I first landed in Hargeisa, I was so oblivious of the challenges and endless possibilities that I was going to encounter. Within the first week, I was sure I wanted to return home. The culture  shock was so unforgiving, the climate was such a huge shift, the constant food poisoning as I tried to adjust to the new food and a whole lot of stares. It took a lot of pep talk and leaning on family and friends back home, and ultimately, re-adjusted and made the experience worthwhile. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way 🙂 Over time, I got to interact with the Somalis (They’re the most kindest and helpful people you can ever meet). Their togetherness, more-so during the recent Hargeisa fire 🙁 made me admire their brotherhood. Growth, Self Reflection & Mindset.

Howdy, howdy! 🙂 This year has been off to a great start. I spent my Dec holidays working and spending quality time with with friends, family & honestly can’t wait to break for a few weeks to recharge. I’ve just had a lot going on, lol! Your girl is burning out! Last year also came with a lot of re-learning and learning. I had to painfully let go of unhealthy habits and adapt to change as well. We all know that this can be easier said than done, so let’s get into it, shall we?

CHIT CHAT + MOTHERS DAY!

CHIT CHAT + MOTHERS DAY!

“As the old adage goes, there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving. People carry a lot of burden with them around the streets, in their houses, in their offices, all up in their minds and hearts but when you free yourself off that burden, then you never look back to see who’s gonna stab you cause that’s not your concern.” This was sent to me by a good friend of mine. Sometimes we just can use some words of wisdom from our inner circles.
