I’m really hoping to keep this momentum going with my blog. I really do enjoy sharing my favorite fashion picks, sharing words of wisdom that can improve our quality of life among other topics etc. The feedback has been so amazing and I appreciate each one of your for always finding sometime to pop in here. One thing that really stood out for me in 2023 was how we’re constantly finding ourselves sub-consciously & consciously giving in into the noise of what the society expects of us and from us. Seeing that I’m very passionate about demystifying some of these nuances that no longer make sense in order to live a happy and fulfilling life, I felt it was important for us to get into 2024 with a completely different or improved mindset.
Let’s get into it ladies and gents 🙂
LIVING A LIFE TRUE TO YOURSELFÂ
“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.â€
Did you read that highly depressing, incredibly un-inspiring quote written above? I hope so, because it’s the single most common thing people regret when they near the end of their lives. Here it is one more time, just for good measure: I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
Now, I don’t know about you, but for me?—that’s the last thing I want to be saying to myself when it gets down to the wire.
When I look back on my life, I want to look back and be grateful for having honored my dreams. I don’t want to look back on a long list of unfulfilled dreams, thinking about how I should’ve, would’ve, or could’ve — but never did. Most people don’t even honor half their dreams, let alone all of them, and end up going to their death-bed knowing that it was their own decisions (or indecisions) that determined a destiny bursting at the seams with unfulfilled dreams.
The bottom line with life-lesson numéro uno is this: YOU are the author of your destiny, so write the story you want to live, regardless of how fictional it may or may not sound to someone else. Live a life that’s true to you. Dream big, and don’t settle for less than you’re capable of.
Let’s keep it moving.
EXPRESS YOUR EMOTIONS
I’m not afraid to let myself cry. You shouldn’t be either. It’s okay to let yourself feel your feelings, rather than pretend like they don’t exist. It’s possible to let life’s moments touch you, without allowing them to hurt you.
It’s also important to express your emotions to others, rather than suppress them in order to avoid ruffling anyone’s feathers, or keep them inside for fear of embarrassing yourself.
TRAVELING WILL ENRICH YOUR LIFE LIKE NOTHING ELSE ✈ï¸
It’s so cliche, but travel truly opens up the mind and senses. Traveling has enabled me to see how other cultures live, meet people from all around the country / world, eat the best local food, and see surreal sights. It’s important to get outside of your own bubble and experience something foreign and new. I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store.
DEVELOP A GROWTH MINDSET
I’ve talked about mindset here before. The essence of this life lesson — developing a growth mindset — for me means this: Hard work trumps talent every day of the week. The growth-minded swimmer who works hard, day in and day out, will surmount his naturally talented opponents.
People that constantly complain, blame, and refuse to take responsibility for their lives do not have a growth mindset. Growth-oriented people don’t blame the economy for their lack of wealth; they pick up a book so they can learn how to create their own. Growth-oriented people don’t allow their failures to define their identity; they learn from them and come back stronger as a result. If you want to develop a growth mindset, focus only on that which is within your control. Let go of everything else.
WHEREVER YOU ARE, IT’S JUST THE BEGINNINGâ›…ï¸
I finally understand that your 30s is when real life really starts to happen.
DON’T BE AFRAID TO TREAT YO’SELF GURL
It’s definitely the scorpio in me, but I am all about making sure I buy myself things that will bring me joy. There’s nothing wrong with shopping sprees or splurges if it can lift your mood. It’s called retail therapy for a reason. :PÂ

WOMEN CAN DO ANYTHING
I am so lucky I get to be around a time when women empowerment has been embraced and encouraged. My goal is to never let myself be held back by the fact that I am a woman, and to help change the sexist institutions that still exist to try and hold us back.
OWN THE STUFF YOU LIKE AND DON’T APOLOGISE FOR IT
We spend too many years in our early 20s pretending to like or dislike things to try and fit in. But the later you get into late 20s, you start to realize that it’s okay to like what you like and enjoy yourself. There is no such thing as guilty pleasures. If you want to binge-watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Real Housewives of Atlanta, go on an online shopping spree, do it and don’t apologise for it!
TRUST YOUR INTUITION
Birds use their intuition to navigate their way to breeding grounds halfway around the world. Deer and rabbits and other prey type use their intuition to avoid running into predators. The average human, on the other hand, will take advice of their drunk-before-noon neighbour across the street instead of doing what deep down we know is best. How many times have you thought in hindsight, I knew I should’ve listened to my gut?
You have an incredible inner guidance tool that you can use whenever you need it.
Last but not least;
LOVE YOURSELF
Like you’re the only you there is.
Unless you have a better idea.
No matter who you really are.
No matter what anyone else thinks.
…….and when you do love yourself, the motherlode shall bestow her magic upon you.
Thanks for reading. Love&light! Always!
